Intro:

    During the day we can loose tension in the tiedowns because of the weight imbalance on the azimuth arm (dome=225 kips, ch =35Kips + counterweight). The elevation rails are shimmed to be above the paraxial surface as you go up in zenith angle. When shimming the elevation rails:

With these routines, you can compute the pointing error from tilt, focus given the az,za and laser ranger measurements.

    Monday through Friday we normally have maintenance time during the day (except when the galaxy drifts into daytime, or an sband tx measurement is done.).
Saturdays and Sundays are scheduled for observing all day long. After talking to some visiting  observers i found that they are not aware that there may be a  pointing problem during the day (especially when using some of the higher frequency receivers).
