A2186 Commensal run -- Observing Status


Nodding scan data of five regions in the Inner Galaxy are being taken by three commensal projects: I-GALFA (Steve Gibson), GALFACTS (Russ Taylor) and ZOA (Trish Henning). I-GALFA uses the GALFA Spectrometer (GALSPECT) to study Galactic HI, GALFACTS uses WAPPs to study continuum spectro-polarimetry and ZOA also uses WAPPs to study HI in nearby galaxies.

WAPP set-up: 4-byte, 4 msec, 2048 ch, BW 100 MHz, frq range 1390-1490 MHz, scanlen ?? sec, turnover ?? sec. 100 MHz RFI filter in place.

For Field B and C (2009 campaign) the set-up was different: GALFACTS and ZOA used Mock spectrometer boards instead of WAPPs.

GALFACTS Mock set-up: both boards, 16-bit, full Stokes, 4096 ch/board, 1 msec sampling, 2x172 MHz bandwidth. No 100 MHz RFI filter.

ZOA Mock set-up: both boards, 32-bits, 8192 ch/board, 100 msec sampling, 2x172 MHz bandwidth. No 100 MHz RFI filter.
