Arecibo Observatory > Astronomy > Robert Minchin
I am a researcher at Arecibo
Observatory, primarily working on HI surveys with the
ALFA multibeam instrument. The
major projects I am currently involved in are
AGES,
AUDS and
ZOA at Arecibo and
NIBLES at Nançay.
I have also worked on
the HIPASS
and HIJASS
projects with the Parkes
and Jodrell Bank multibeams and
my PhD thesis was based on the HIDEEP survey carried out with the Parkes
multibeam.
As well as HI surveys, I have been using the high-frequency receivers at Arecibo to measure continuum radiation in a sample of sub-mm galaxies and I am part of a team looking at molecular lines in Arp 220 and other starburst galaxies and star-forming regions.
I am the webmaster for the astronomy pages at Arecibo and I am also the ‘friend’ of extragalactic surveys and of the X-band receiver.
