A2749 monitoring of total power and on/off -1

Misc links:

Intro:

A2335/A2749  is doing position switching with lbw in the 1355 to 1400 MHz range.
Setup:

A2335 2011

18may11: 1367 rfi present  (top)

Rfi at 1367 Mhz was seen by a2335 on 18may11 starting at 19:00 hours and lasting through most  of the nite.
Plots were made of the first on/off pair (300 seconds on, 300 secs off) (.ps) (.pdf):

30jan11: polB baseline instabilities  (top)

a2335 reported baseline instabilites in polB on 30jan11 while doing on/off position switching. The setup was the same as described in the Intro.
The first set of plots show on/off-1 baselines averaged over each on/off pair (.ps) (.pdf):
The second set of plots shows total power vs time for the on and off data:

Nov10: switching to 750 narrow band IF caused power adjustment problems. (top)

a2335 was having trouble with out of band interference (faa 1350 radar) aliasing back into the observing band. They had been using the 750 IF which has a 500 MHz bandwidth. On 25oct10 they switched to use the 750 narrow band IF. This IF has a 60 MHz filter . This  would help cut off the out of band interference before it hit the interim correlator mixer/digitizer.
This required a change in the adjust power sequence that they had been using:
The plots show the total power for each  1 second record covering a2335 20oct10 thru 05dec10 (.ps) (.pdf)

Checking Tsys vs correlator power levels.  (top)

The cal on/offs were used to compute the caldeflection. The calOff was then used to compute the system temperature. This was for done for all the calon, offs in the a2335 files 20oct10 through 05dec10. The tsys was then plotted vs various parameters:

Tsys vs mean correlator value (.ps) (.pdf):

08apr13: polB drifts at start of run. (top)

PolB was drifting in gain for the first few on/off patterns done on 08apr13. There were 23 on/off pairs.
The processing was:
The plots show the on/off - 1  results for each pattern:
