Telescope parts: The reflectors
-
The primary reflector
-
305 meter diameter dish with a spherical surface consisting
of 38000+ .91 x 1.82 m (3'x6') panels suspended on a cable system.
-
Radius of curvature 265m (870'). Horns placed about
132m (435').
-
Gregorian dome: Secondary and tertiary reflectors.
-
The gregorian dome can move in azimuth and za.
-
The secondary is about 18.3 m (60'). It is a shaped surface
with 1 axis of symmetry.
-
The tertiary is about 9.1 m (30'). It is mounted on
5 actuators and can be moved vertically, in the za direction, and rotated
about the azimuth direction.
-
The secondary and tertiary correct for the spherical aberration
of the primary. A point focus is made above the tertiary.
