measuring the azimuth dependence of birdies

     The azimuth spins that have been done to measure birdie direction are collected here so that they can be compared. These spins also give an idea of the sidelobe response of the telescope from the direction of the birdie.

• 05oct01 :  1350 Mhz tone. radar blanker on. az swing at .2 deg/sec. Dome at 19 deg za. center plot smoothed to 11*.2=2.2 degrees.
• 01mar02: 1400 Mhz birdie . .4 deg/sec az swing with dome at 18 degs za.
• 29jun04: 1400 Mhz birdie  .4deg/sec az swing. dome at 18 deg za. rbw:190 hz. The center plot shows the response of the 1400.000 Mhz  birdie that comes from the control room.
• 23oct02 : 410 Mhz birdie from the tower in aguada. See figures 3 and 4. Spin at .4 degs/sec with dome at 18 degrees za. The tower is at an azimuth of 275 deg (via gps receiver). We measured a 275 deg az with a yaggi from the dome. The 430 system via the dome has a peak at 150 degrees. This is 90 deg from tower8 cables.
• 27mar03: az,za  dependence of faa, aerostat, remy, punta salinas using  1 second sampling.
• 19jun03: 427.75 Mhz Tv chn 14,chn22 intermods. .4 deg/sec az swing with dome at 19 degs za. Peaks at az=124
• 19jun03: 426.25 Mhz birdie. .4 deg/sec az swing with dome at 19deg za. Peaks at az=301 deg.
• 19jun03:  432.0 Mhz birdie.    No az dependence. It must be inside the dome.
• 13oct03: 1422.5 Mhz birdie from channel 54 vs az.
• 28sep04: az dependence of faa radar compression in alfa receiver.   Az swing 270 to 630 at .3 deg/sec. Use alfa and dump data every 64 useconds.
• 28oct05: azimuth dependence of birdies in the 327 Mhz rcvr.
• 312.3 Mhz is 3rd harmonic of 104.1 fm station  in Utuado (shows az dependence).
• 18jul06: az, za dependence of birdies xmitted from the control room and parking lot (lbw).
• 04oct06: az,za dependence of 614 khz comb in 327 Mhz rcvr. Comb was coming from the az2 encoder on the platform. The za dependence shows how the metal on the platform was shielding the source. We also did a strip moving the ch while az,dome remained stationary. This also showed a change.
• 20mar09: 1422.5 Mhz birdie from channel 54 vs az.
• 02apr09: 4 az swings with 430. dome at 19 degrees.
• 08apr09: 2 azswings with 800 Mhz rcvr at 19 degrees, freq=760
• 13apr09: 2 azswings with 800 Mhz rcvr at 19 degrees, freq=820\
• 14jun09: 800 rcvr az swing looking at 700-800 Mhz.
• 29nov10: 800 rcvr azswing looking at 734.7 to 739.3 Mhz rfi.
• 29nov10: azimuth dependence of 800 rcvr rfi.
• 19jan11: 4 azswings sbn,sbw looking at 2380 Mhz rfi from radio redentor tower.
• 24feb11: 2 az swings with 327
  
• 28feb11: 4 az swings 327 rcvr while transmitting a tone from 12meter telescope.
• 09mar11 2 az swings 327 rcvr with alfa motor off. see fm intermods.
  
• 14mar11: 2 azswings covering all of lbw.. looking at 1357.3 Mhz birdie.
• 16aug11: 2 azwings lbw looking at 1360.015 biride (lbw and mock)
• 12oct11: 2 azswings sbw centered at 2400 Mhz. za=15.
• 01nov11: xmit birdie for visitor center look for peak using lbw.
• 05dec11: 2 azswings with narrow band data around 1400 Mhz.
