10sep10: U2-U2L3:

u2-l2l3 procedure:

;loosen bolts at u2 on current beam, attach new beam to u2 via bolts (bolts remain loose)
butt weld new beam to u2l3
tighten bolts at u2
weld gusset plate around u2 connection.

The motion sequence was:

az->315 deg, dome=8, ch=8.834 . This is the balanced moment position
pull on tiedowns till you have 48 kips in td4 (td12,4,8 distance=21.81,22.058,21.831)
move dome up till we have 64 kips in td 4
Measurements..

on10sep10 the loadcells 8,12 were out of calibration.
on 11sep10 i recalibrated td12,8 and then move the az,dome to the same locations as 10sep10 and measured the following values.
on 13sep10 is tried putting 11500 kipfit inbalance in.This required the dome to go to 15deg za. the temp was cooler.
14sep10. started installation of corner 4 u2-u2l3 beam. joel was ok with the tensions we achieved

when balanced, could only get 46,48,41 kips (td12,4,8). ran out of jack throw.

16sep10.. needed different jack throw to get 48 kips all around.

there is probably a differential cable heating in the morning when the sun first hits them.

My unbalanced moment model gave with ch at 8.834 gives:

za=14: 10000 kip-ft (this gave the 64 kips of tension on td4)
za=15: 11500 kip-ft (this gave 69 kips tension on td 4).
