Dear Operations Staff: Regarding the PUPPI Reset procedure when CIMA reports errors, please note the below, following on the problem from 9/8/19: There are two "soft reset" procedures in the Operators' menu: - CIMA-PUPPI reset This procedure restarts the CIMA helper module on PUPPI Master - PUPPI-GPU reset This procedure restarts the PUPPI software on the PUPPI GPUs. During the PUPPI-GPU reset procedure, a connection is attempted to each of the GPUs and if this successful, the PUPPI software is restarted. The progress of this script is displayed on a terminal window. If a connection fails, the script will appear to hang or report an error. If the CIMA-PUPPI reset procedure succeeds but the PUPPI-GPU reset fails, please first check the GPUs for errors before rebooting the PUPPI master. In the case of the above problem on 9/8/19, the GPU #6 was unreachable on the PUPPI network and the script would have failed. You can try to log in to the GPUs from the PUPPI master (as user "gpu") to verify the connectivity. If a GPU is unreachable, it probably needs a hard reset. Please use the PUPPI console (keyboard on top of the rack) to check the screen for booting errors (in the case above, the operator found that the computer paused the boot process with "Press F1 to Resume"). Thank you, -arun
