I'm interested in the structure of interstellar ``clouds'' (filaments, sheets, or whatever) of gas and dust over a wide range of scales, from Galactic spiral arms to AU-scale features -- also how these structures form and interact. I'm especially interested in the smallest-scale features, for which I see evidence in some of the objects I've studied for other reasons.

This research focus is an intersection of several different areas, among them:

  • The possibility of clumpy dust scattering in the Pleiades reflection nebula, which might explain its otherwise surprising UV scattering properties
  • Fine-scale H I and dust structure in the Pleiades
  • Power-law slope to Fourier transform of Pleiades reflection nebulosity images
  • Intricate structure of H I emission and self-absorption in the CGPS
  • Existence of 1' structure in CGPS HISA in Local Arm gas
  • Detection of very faint 12CO emission in HISA -- beam dilution?
