National Astronomy and Ionosphere center
Arecibo Observatory
Attention:

Various mechanical engineering activities, (including the
installation of the ALFA front-end in the Gregorian Dome),
will take place during the next few months. Even with our
best efforts to minimize down-time, the telescope will be
unavailable for regular observations during most of the
  following periods;

  1) March 22nd to March 26th

  2) April 19th to April 21st

  3) April 24th to May   14th

Although, when completed, these activities will have produced
an improved telescope, during the entire time that the work
is in progress its pointing is likely to be affected
significantly (particularly for the shorter cm-wavelengths).
A full pointing solution will be obtained as the last scheduled
task using calibration observations planned to take place during
the second week of May. The telescope (with improved pointing)
is expected to return to full scientific operations by May 15th.

NAIC thanks you for your understanding and co-operation.
