"Pathways to the Future of the Arecibo Observatory" is a 3 day workshop to discuss future science goals and capabilities for the Arecibo Observatory. |
«We cordially invite you to collaborate on developing our strategic Science Plan for the next 15 years. Your participation will be highly appreciated. We hope you can join us at this special event.»
The Arecibo Observatory, now under new management by the
University of Central Florida (UCF), Universidad Ana G. Mendez - Recinto de Cupey (UAGM-Cupey)
and Yang Enterprises, is looking for input from long-time Arecibo users
and community stakeholders on short- and long-term science objectives
with the aim of developing a strategic Science Plan for the next 15
years.
The purpose of this workshop is to create a shared vision of the future
research that will be conducted at AO and help create tangible ways
that promote cutting-edge research and involve wider participation from
the scientific community in the areas of planetary science, radio
astronomy and the study of the atmosphere. In addition, the meeting will serve as a forum to discuss potential technical upgrades that would ensure the Arecibo Observatory stays at the forefront of radio astronomy, space and atmospheric sciences and planetary sciences research.
At this workshop, we want to gather input from a cross-section of the scientific and engineering community to create an energizing and productive meeting. We will facilitate discussions to address questions such as:
Expansion into new areas of science either within current communities or across other fields of science will also be taken into consideration.
