A Teacher in Residence position will be awarded to a high school science teacher. The selected teacher would participate in a group research project, attend all Summer Student Lectures, and would have an individual project related to the Arecibo Observatory outreach program. The position will include a monthly stipend of about $3,000. Location: At the Arecibo Observatory, near Arecibo, Puerto Rico. When: A flexible 8-week period between June 1 and July 31st. Eligibility: High school (7 -12 th grade) science teachers with at least 3 years of teaching experience and with interest in improving science education in their region. Participant teachers must hold a teaching position in one of the public or private schools in Puerto Rico, and must be citizens or permanent residents of the United States. Responsibilities: Teachers will work on a specific research project related to the Arecibo Observatory Education and Outreach program. They will attend the Summer Lecture series and present an oral talk on their summer work.
