OPUS endeavors to be a leader in efforts to improve the public understanding of science, in particular in respect to the Hispanic community, which is underrepresented in the fields of mathematics, science and engineering.

OPUS engages in a wide range of activities targeted to different publics.

GENERAL PUBLIC – Visits to the Angel Ramos Foundation Visitor Center (ARFVC) and articles and reports in the media.

SPECIAL VISITORS – Visits by VIP, government, industry, university groups, and presentations at a variety of forums.

SCIENCE TEACHERS – Residential workshops and summer internships.

MEDIA – Workshops for journalists, participation in media events and information resource.

STUDENTS – Special visits to the Observatory, visits to schools.
