Noce de las Estrellas

On November 17, 2012 the “Noche de las Estrellas” activity was held at el Morro, Old San Juan. The activity was a full success since over 2,000 community members participated in the observation of the Solar System with the support of the members and administrators of the Association of Astronomy of Puerto Rico who placed ten telescopes at the site for observation by students, teachers, faculty, and community members of Puerto Rico. In addition to the gathering at el Morro, the Association of Astronomy of Puerto Rico was able to organize observations in Ponce and Arecibo for the “Noche de las Estrellas” in the island. The “Noche de las Estrellas” is an activity organized by the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM) and also organizations in Guatemala, Colombia, Costa Rica and France were part of the event. In México the gathering in the capital, Ciudad de México, exceeded 70,000 participants.
