FAST Project Visit

A Chinese delegation representing the FAST project visited the Arecibo Observatory facilities on December 8, 2011 and was received by Dr. Robert Kerr, Director and Principal Investigator, Dr. Juan F. Arratia, Deputy Director and Co-Principal Investigator, and Dr. Sixto González, Director of the Atmospheric Science Division.

The delegation was formed by:

- Ms Xiaoping Zhang, Deputy Director, Guizhou Development and Reform Committee
- Ms Wei Li, Division Chief, Guizhou Development and Reform Committee
- Mr. Yuecheng Li, Governor, QianNan City, Guizhou Province
- Mr. Zhiuong Zhang, Deputy Mayor, Pingtang county of QianNan City, Guizhou Province
- Ms. YiWang, former Vice Director, NAOC Administration
- Mr. Bo Peng, Deputy Manager General, Fast Project

The objective of the visit was to establish a partnership with the Arecibo Observatory and Puerto Rico. The Five-Hundred-Meter aperture Spherical Radio Telescope (FAST) is the new Chinese mega-science project designated to build the largest single dish radio telescope in the world, which will be located in Guizhou Provience.
