Focus and pointing at AO
23may06
-
The telescope parts used for focus and pointing:
-
reflectors, horns, rotary floor, tilt sensors, distomats,
tiedowns, temperature sensor, azimuth, zenith angle motion.
-
Focusing
the telescope:
-
Align the panels of each reflector to give the correct
curvature.
-
Align each of the reflectors to point along the optic
axis.
-
Correct for platform tilt and deflections by shimming
the rails.
-
Pointing
the telescope:
-
The pointing model
-
Input data to the model
-
The model fit residuals.
-
-
Calibration:
-
Focus curves to check focus.
-
heiles calibration scans to measure gain, Tsys, hpbw,
coma, sidelobes.
-
Gain curves, beam widths.
-
Miscellaneous.
