NOTE:

Intro

The platform translates and tilts as we move the dome in azimuth and za. The laser rangers can be used to measure these values.
The tilting causes a problem (pointing error) when we loose tension in a tiedown

Why the platform tilts:

There is a large weight imbalance between the gregorian dome and the ch.

    So

If we new how much extra the platform was tilted, we could use the above links to compute the pointing error.

Note: The the platform also translates...

Measuring the platform tilt when we lose tension.

Under normal operation, the  platform tilt is continually changing as we track in az and za. We would  like to know the "extra" tilt caused when we lose tension in a tiedown. This extra tilt could them  be used to measure the added  pointing error.
You can do this using the laser ranger data.
