Intro:

The vertex software consists of:

The plc software that runs on the siemens plc crate
The lcu software. This runs on the lcu pc that plugs into the siemens crate. It talks to the VME crate (ao software) and the LCU down in the control room via ethernet. It passes their requests on to the plc over the plc back plane.
The ocu software. This runs on a pc in the control room. It allows the operator a direct connection to the LCU (the other option is to use the vme/vxworks system to talk to the lcu).

Where the software is backed up:

The vertex software is backed up on /share/megs/vertex. This directory is on the backup schedule for ao software so it is backed up and saved on various backup tapes.
